Located within the new retail precinct for the Australian National University, Kriss Kross Barber Shop, Streetwear Store and Sneaker Laundry creates a new heart for Canberran street culture.

​

Drawing from the street basketball roots of sneaker culture, double layered chain link mesh lines the store, forming backdrop to curated product displays. A pair of integrated sculptural installations provide a dramatic visual backdrop to the rear of both the sneaker laundry and barber shop. Created from hot pink nylon rope, the installations challenge the traditional hypermasculinity of sneaker and barber culture - creating a dynamic visual backdrop to the happenings of the store.

Central elements within the streetwear store are easily relocatable, creating a flexible space suited to a calendar of events including pop up stores, yoga sessions and other events.

The store has been successful in creating not just a place to purchase the latest sneakers or get a haircut, but a cultural destination and place to linger for the sneaker loving community of Canberra.
